Razorhouse EP Release Show at Martyrs' on Friday, February 23, 201802.18.2018
My name is Mark Panick and I’m a unrepentant vaudevillian.
When I was seven my parents took me to Mexico. Jimmy Dean (known for the cowboy song “Big Bad John” and for being the “Breakfast Sausage King”) was staying in the room above us and he and his buddies played cards out on his balcony all day and night.
During the day they took to tossing quarters in the hotel pool, encouraging me (with my plastic Tarzan knife clenched in my teeth) to dive and retrieve said quarters. I’ve been diving for coinage ever since.
There is no shame in rock & roll but maybe there should be. Me and my cohorts in Razorhouse (a name taken from the MayanPopol Vuh and not some dumb drug reference) spent the better part of a year conjuring up our third EP, Codex Tres Lingua. To say it was a labor of love would be unfair to the “Love Is” comic strip.
Razorhouse doesn’t really fit neatly into a particular genre of music beyond rock and our live show just doesn’t seem to fit on the other wagons out there. That said, we will be trotting it out big time to celebrate the release of Codex Tres Lingua at Martyrs’ on Friday, Feb 23rd with our friends Jay O’Rourke and Plastic Crimewave Syndicate.
